Come away to our annual church families camp for a refreshing break – let us do the cooking for you!!!

With refreshing speakers, good food and activities for the kids – family camp is an ideal holiday for those wanting a break

Price: Donation to cover costs
Camp Venue:  Main Lodge @ CYC Waihola
Camp Age Group: All Ages – however young people under 16 need to have an adult responsible for them also at the camp.

 

About Family Camp

CYC Family Camp is a camp of fellowship, teaching, discussion, great fun, good food and above all getting closer to God through His scriptures.

The camp is for all families, couples and individuals that desire a deeper grasp of the historic faith of the Scriptures. CYC Waihola puts together this camp believing that the Bible is fully inspired by God and is the final authority on all matters of the Christian faith.

The CYC Council expects campers to attend all meetings, fully support the camp programme and happily observe the posted camp rules. You will also be expected to assist with camp duties

 

Accommodation at Camp

  • There is limited accommodation that is available to those who attend as a family in our chalets and bunk-rooms – our on-site accommodation is allocated after registrations close, according to most need.
  • CYC also has caravan points or you may choose to stay off site in local motels, camping grounds or B&B’s.

 

Activities at Camp

  • KidzTime Primary school aged children will be looked after Family Worship during the morning speaking sessions in the downstairs area under the kitchen.
  • Teenagers will be expected to attend the both of the speaking session in the morning and evenings. After the evening session there will be a teenage program for them to attend with parental permission.
  • Family Activities Each afternoon at camp there will be organised activities for families – these may include geocaching, paint-ball, adventure-based activities, treasure hunts, family tabloid sports competition.

Cost of Camp
There is no fixed charge for the camp however it does cost CYC to run this camp so it is expect that those attending will contribute what they can.

Arrival and Departure Details
You can arrive at camp from 4.30pm to start unpacking and setting up but the official Family Camp program starts with tea in the Main Lodge at CYC Waihola at 5.30pm on Monday evening (21st April) and finishes on Friday (25th April) after lunch and clean-up about 2pm.
You will find CYC Waihola on Finlayson Road, about one kilometre from State Highway One in Waihola. In Waihola turn left away from the lake at the Challenge Service Station. You will find the Main Lodge on the left at the camp in the end of the gravel drive.

Register for Camp

It is important that you register for Family Camp as we have limited accommodation available and we can only cater for a certain number of people for the weekend.
Registrations close on 11th April 2014 or earlier if we have reached capacity.

Our family camp is a time for church families to take a break and come and hang out together for a time of fellowship.

2013 Speakers

  • Mark Cooper-Whitehas been married to Lois since 1988. Now empty nesters, they have two adult children, Jack & Shelley, who love Jesus, music, computers, technology and all that stuff. Mark & Lois have been in full time since Christian ministry since January 1991. They helped grow Yamba Presbyterian Church from 1994 to 2008, and since then have been working to grow Bangalow Presbyterian Church. Mark enjoys Lois, music, talking to people, motorcycles, camping, shing, shooting etc. Lois loves quilting and peace and quiet. They both enjoy visiting NZ!
    Mark will be opening up Paul’s letter to the Romans with the theme “Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound?!” This great letter is a part of the bible that has literally changed the world. And it is  still changing the world through the good news of Jesus.
  • Stuart Johnson lives in Dunedin with his wife Gail and their three daughters. He teaches for the Grace Theological College at the Dunedin Branch, he preaches for Grace Bible Church in Dunedin, and is involved in the campus ministry of Engage Otago.
    Stuart plans to give speak on the topic of ‘The Sovereignty of God’, including one ‘big-picture’ talk, along with three case studies from Job, Joseph and Daniel.
  • David Bayne was was born in Ashburton and grew up on a farm nearby. He is married to Lynda and they have seven adult children and two grand-children. He has studied at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and has served as a minister in the RCNZ for a number of years before being involved in the process of establishing GPNZ. He is currently Stated Clerk for them and  serves as minister of the Ashburton / Fairlie congregations.
    The theme for David’s talks will be “Transformed by the renewal of your mind” and will present a Christian World View covering four major areas: View of God, View of Self, View of Others View of Creation.

Andrew Young

Andrew Young is Pastor of the Wyndham Evangelical Church. He and his wife Nola and son John are thoroughly enjoying the rural South again after years in Australia and Auckland. Andrew’s camp talks reflect his passion to help people know God and live for Him in the world today

Stuart Johnson

Stuart has a background in theological education and university student ministry in Australia, Stuart and Gail along with their three children recently moved to Otago where Stuart is a Lecturer for Grace Theological College in Dunedin and is involved in Ignite Student ministry on Otago University campus.

Richard Worth

Richard is married to Janie and they have five grown children and one grandson. He is an elder in Grace Presbyterian Church in Dunedin.

Outline of Talks

JOHN’S GOSPEL:”The Perfect Man – Jesus as the Pattern of our Life With God”. Andrew will be providing a series of thematically focused expositions from John’s Gospel looking at the humanity of our Lord as it expresses itself in His relationship with his Father.

EPHESIANS 1. A series of four talks titled “Christ our Wisdom, Strength and Comfort”, Stuart will be delivering one of these talks each evening.

HISTORY with a message to us. Richard will be providing four talks on lessons Gods people learnt in the 18 Century Revival.
