Adventure Camp… HANDS DOWN the most fun you will have this summer!

The CYC classic Adventure Camp is back for 2018. Spend the week soaking up the summer sun as you do all manner of “sweet as” adventure activities. In the past this camp has included: Paint-ball, Eeling, Kayaking, Raft Building, “Rodeoing”, Search and Rescue, Mountain Biking, Horse Riding, Fear Factor, Lake Biscuiting and much much more.

This camp is limited to 30 spaces so get in fast.

2018 Girls Horse Trek

Fresh air, Rolling hills, Lush green paddocks and the companionship of a horse…. what more could you want?
Enroll now at our CYC horse trek camp and share your passion of our large equine friends with others and make new friends who share your passion along the way.

Come and discover our spectacular scenery, set in the idyllic valley behind Waihola Township.

This ‘sweet as’ camp will have you trekking through the back country in serenity and quiet on the back of a horse to places that give you awesome views with some other pretty cool people. Get into God’s creation and explore it.

PLEASE NOTE: CYC Waihola has available approx 10. horses to campers however the enrolements that require a horse will be on a ‘experiential basis’ rather than ‘first in first served’ as not all our horses are suited for beginner riders.

2017 August Work & Fellowship Day


The Facility Committee is starting to run the Work & Fellowship Days again starting with the August 2017 day. Our plan is to help knock off some of the bigger maintenance and cleaning jobs around the camp-site.

Unfortunately our Labour Weekend Work Camp is not happening this year as we have a large prior booking over Labour Weekend.

  • Bring any tools you have that might help with your choosen work team.
  • Something to share with everyone for lunch

 1. Fix boundary fences near Flying Fox slip (if area is ready)
 2. Install new fence / gates at Horse Arena pathway
 3. Install new fence / gate around sewerage shed area far enough out not to damage underground tanks
 4. Install new “pig containment fence” around old turkey enclosure
Heavy Rain Damage Clean-up Team:

 1. Help pick up all the debri from the “big slip lahar” that came through the camp in July

  • Sticks and burnables go on burning heap.
  • Silt and debri into piles for Kevin to remove with digger
 2. Clean out all water tables, drains and sumps

Plant Natives

  • Under Kevin’s guidance use the tree protectors to plant natives along the Homestead creek.
  • Under Kevin’s guidance use the tree protectors to plant natives around the sewer shed if area is ready for planting.
Ruthless Spring Cleaning:

 1. Chalets

  • Clean out all cupboards in Chalets removing old or un-required items (including all linen, rubbish, crockery that doesn’t match)
  • Defrost and clean out fridges in Chalets
  • Fix broken curtains with replacement curtain hooks, etc.
  • Clean windows – inside and out
  • Dust for cobwebs, dead flys, etc.
  • Good spray and wipe wipe down of all surfaces in bathrooms
  • Vacuum floors and window sills
 2. Bunk-rooms

  • Replace all dirty mattress protectors with clean ones
  • Clean windows – inside and out
  • Fix broken curtains with replacement curtain hooks, etc.
  • Dust for cobwebs, dead flys and dust
  • Good spray and wipe wipe down of all surfaces in bathrooms
  • Wet wipe with spray and wipe window sills
  • Wet mop floors and window sills
 3. Main lodge

  • Clean the ceiling in the Main Hall kitchen
  • Dust and clean all window sills
  • Clean windows – inside and out
  • Dust for cobwebs, dead flys and dust
  • Good spray and wipe wipe down of all surfaces in bathrooms
 4. Camp Freezers

  • Defrost and clean out freezers in Main Hall
  • Defrost and clean out fridge and freezer in Homestead
 5. Chuck out (into the skip) or take home anything that is surplus to the camp’s requirements – check with Tim if you are unsure!

 

 

2017 Tramping Camp

 

The 2017 Tramping Camp will be tramping around the Monowai-Green Lake track and will includes a breathtaking views of the Fiordland Mountains and western Southland Plains.
 
The plan is:
* Friday 15th December – Leave camp and stay a night somewhere close to our starting point.
 
* Saturday 16th December – start tramping early the Borland Saddle through to the Monowai Hut
 
* Sunday 17th December – tramp from the Monowai hut up and over the tops down to the Richardson Inlet Hut
 
* Monday 18th December – tramp from Richardson Inlet Hut through to the Green Lake hut with a side trip up to the tops
 
* Tuesday 19th December – tramp out from Green Lake hut back to the carpark

2017 Southern Lads Camp

Southern Lad’s Camp is all about getting your hands dirty, loving the outdoors, enjoying good company and developing character & integrity.

Experience a Sheep and Beef Farm like no other alongside the legendary ‘Alf Bradfield’ –  he’s the Chuck Norris of Tuapeka (there are many try to be like him and there are many that fail – see if you have what it takes.

This camp may feature building and sleeping in a back country hut, deer stalking, possum trapping, farm related work and much more! It is sure to involve good honest hard work with dirty hands and smelly ‘arm-pits’ coupled with a sense of accomplishment!!!

You will sleep in a woolshed and experience good New Zealand tucker each day.
