About this Camp

CYC Waihola Family Camp is a camp of fellowship, teaching, discussion, great fun, good food and above all getting closer to God through His Holy Scriptures.

The camp is for all families, couples and individuals that desire to dig deeper into the historic faith of the Scriptures. CYC Waihola puts together this camp believing that the Bible is fully inspired by God and is the final authority on all matters of the Christian faith.

The Family Camp committee expects all those at camp to attend all meetings, fully support the camp programme and happily observe the posted camp rules. You will also be expected to assist with camp duties where possible.

Camp Speakers

Here are some of the speakers we have lined up to speak this year….

Alfie Orr

Bio:
Alfie Orr was born in Northern Ireland and came to NZ when he was 21. After marrying his wife Elsie, they went to live in Ireland. Until recently he was the pastor of South City Reformed Baptist Church in South Auckland, this church started as a church plant about five and a half years ago. He has also pastored churches in both New Zealand and Northern Ireland for over forty years.  The recently retired back to Timaru where they attend the Covenant Grace Baptist Church. They have four children and now have eight grandchildren.

Topic:
We want to consider Jesus in all of the Scriptures. We see Him in the book of Hebrews as a better Priest, a better King, and a better Prophet. Also we see a better covenant, a better sacrifice and a better hope.

We will delve into the Biblical worldview of friendships, singleness, dating, and marriage, and explore what it looks like to pursue Christ while navigating these areas. We live in a world where these topics are widely talked about, but Christ is seldom mentioned as the center of these. We are here to change that!

Join us for a week of thought-provoking talks, morning devotionals, lake time, activities at camp/around Queenstown, and smores!

Space is limited to 40 campers, so sign up early and spread the word to your friends!

It was my first tramp and I had no idea what I was doing but that tramping trip down the South Coast was one of my best memories as a teenager. Now I'm in my twenties I'm still doing lots of tramping

Informed Apologetics Camp

Mission – To equip the next generation with a comprehensive biblical worldview, so that it resonates with them, and makes them active champions of it.

Do you want to grow in your faith and deepen your knowledge of the Bible and how it applies in our culture and world?

Then this is the camp for you! Aimed at late teens and young adults ages 15-20 (school year 10 and up), we will tackle some challenging biblical worldview and apologetics topics—worldviews in conflict, sexuality and gender identity, and the origin of life and Darwinian evolution.

We have several speakers, including Todd Funk of Thinking Matters NZ. They will equip and encourage you to form a biblical worldview on these controversial worldview topics and challenge you to stand for Christ in your school, in your classes, and among your friends.

In addition, we will build relationships, engage in conversation, play some games, eat yummy food, sing around a campfire, and enjoy God’s creation.

Space is limited to 30 campers, so make sure to sign up early and spread the word to your friends!
