With refreshing speakers, good food and activities for the kids – family camp is an ideal holiday for those wanting a break

Camp Venue:  Main Lodge @ CYC Waihola
Camp Age Group:  All Ages – however young people under 16 need to have an adult responsible for them also at the camp.

 

About Family Camp

CYC Family Camp is a camp of fellowship, teaching, discussion, great fun, good food and above all getting closer to God through His scriptures.

The camp is for all families, couples and individuals that desire a deeper grasp of the historic faith of the Scriptures. CYC Waihola puts together this camp believing that the Bible is fully inspired by God and is the final authority on all matters of the Christian faith.

The CYC Council expects campers to attend all meetings, fully support the camp programme and happily observe the posted camp rules. You will also be expected to assist with camp duties

Accommodation at Camp

There is limited accommodation that is available to those who attend as a family in our chalets and bunk-rooms – our on-site accommodation is allocated after registrations close, according to most need.
CYC also has caravan points or you may choose to stay off site in local motels, camping grounds or B&B’s.

Activities at Camp

  • Childrens program for Primary school aged children will be looked after Family Worship during the morning speaking sessions in the downstairs area under the kitchen.
  • Teenagers will be expected to attend the first of the speaking session in the morning. After the evening session there will be a teenage program for them to attend with parental permission.
  • Family Activities each afternoon at camp there will be organised activities for families – these may include geocaching, paint-ball, adventure-based activities, treasure hunts, family tabloid sports competition.

Cost of Camp

There is no fixed charge for the camp however it does cost CYC to run this camp so it is expect that those attending will contribute what they can. Click here for donation information.

Arrival and Departure Details

You can arrive at camp from 4.30pm to start unpacking and setting up but the official Family Camp program starts with tea in the Main Lodge at CYC Waihola at 5.30pm on Monday evening (25th April) and finishes on Friday (29th April) after lunch and clean-up about 2pm.
You will find CYC Waihola on Finlayson Road, about one kilometre from State Highway One in Waihola. In Waihola turn left away from the lake at the Challenge Service Station. You will find the Main Lodge on the left at the camp in the end of the gravel drive.

It is important that you register for Family Camp as we have limited accommodation available and we can only cater for a certain number of people for the weekend.

Registrations close on 15th April or earlier if we have reached capacity.

2016 Leadership Winter Training


Interested in being a leader at CYC Camps??
– then this is the camp for you!!!!!

CYC Waihola is keen as mustard for our camps to be filled with passionate leaders with a real desire to reach young people for God.

Whether you are a natural born leader or just like to work away in the background we would love to have you attend our camp.

The weekend is SUPER CHEAP – only $30 and you can get a CYC t-shirt for 50% off!!!

(We do however do welcome extra donations to cover food and costs).

This is aimed and based around being a cabin leader at our kids camps in Waihola but in full of useful tips and information for any young person looking or already serving in a leadership role.

If you have attended the leadership camp before then we welcome you to come along and share your experiences and join in the fellowship with future leaders.

All leaders must be 15 years or older to attend this camp and it is required for all those wishing to be leaders at CYC camps.

2016 Boys Winter Camp

Hear ye, Hear ye!
Welcome lads, knights, and princes to CYC’s Knights and the Kingdom Camp! We’ll be going back in time to the era of castles, jousting, and royalty to determine the characteristics of Kings. We will also be digging into scripture to find out what the Bible says about the King of Kings, Jesus Christ. Come prepared for merriment and revelry as we discover truth together. Huzzah!

This Boys Winter Camp at CYC features all the cool activities we usually do at CYC – Flying Fox, Go Carts, Air Rifles, Archery plus much more.You’ve never experienced Go Carting unless you have done it in the mud.

Join our enthusiastic, fun loving and innovative leaders in a week of non-stop fellowship and creativity. Be challenged about how to live as Christians and learn the God who created us as his art work.

Pasts camp included activities such as adventure activities; farm fun; photography, make up evenings, card making; pamper night; a masquerade evening and good times.

This camp is limited to 18 spaces.

2016 Southern Lads Camp

A Southern Lad is a guy that doesn’t care about dirty hands, loves the outdoors, enjoys good company and has integrity. Experience a Sheep and Beef Farm like no other alongside the legendary ‘Alf Bradfield’ – the Chuck Norris of Tuapeka – many try to be like him and many fail – see if you have what it takes.

This camp may feature building and sleeping in a back country hut, deer stalking, possum trapping and is sure to involve good honest hard work with dirty hands and smelly ‘arm-pits’ coupled with a sense of accomplishment!!!

You will sleep in a woolshed and experience good New Zealand tucker each day.

2016 Leaders Tramp

The winter leaders tramp is now an annual classic and we are inviting you to come and join the fun!!!

This is a great oppourtunity to meet or catch up with other leaders in a relaxed low key environment.

If you are interested in attending you NEED TO CONTACT Tim Wiel at the CYC office to talk about the tramp.

In the past we have had a quiet weekend jaunt up the Routeburn valley to the Routeburn Falls Hut for the night.

Anyone really keen for some weekend of fellowship with some ‘neat people’ are also welcome to attend this tramp.

It is a winter tramp so expect the following from the weekend:
– easy going track
– minus 0 degrees temperatures and maybe snow
– warm fellowship and good food

Some limited transport may be available from Waihola to the tramp and home again.

Your gear will need to include:
– Good boots with ankle support
– Very warm clothing (including two sets of thermals)(last time we did this tramp there was a -5 degree night in the hut)
– Very warm sleeping bag (again it is very cold)
– Wet weather gear (last time it snowed)
– Your own food (although dehydrated food is available for purchase from CYC at our cost price)

2016 Director’s Training

2016 Directors Training Day: Queens Birthday Weekend & 10th September 2016 from 9am – 4pm

This training is for all prospective future directors to go over the camping policy document.

We plan to discuss and go through the policies and procedures of running a camp at CYC.

The day will also be a ideas forum between directors on solving issues, gathering good ideas and discussing upcoming camps.

It is hoped that we can have some experienced previous directors from camps there also.

Please make every effort to ensure you are able to attend this training day if you want to be a director at CYC in the future.
